Growing Through Procurement

A number of Scottish food and drink companies have successfully bid for and won
competitive tenders. These vary in size from the multi-million pound business, Graham's Family Dairy, to McAlister's, a small family dairy business operating on the Island of Bute.
Through the National Food and Drink Policy, the Scottish Government is developing and implementing a plan to support small businesses in supplying healthy, sustainable food to the Public Sector. Much has been done to make the Public Sector an attractive and viable market for smaller Scottish food and drink companies within the remit of the EU Procurement guidelines.
The C2 Cultivating Collaboration Project has been instrumental in encouraging Scottish companies to become involved in supplying Scotland's Public Sector. In partnership with Scotland Food & Drink, a practical guide has been produced which offers information on how public procurement works and advice to small to medium sized food and drink enterprises on how to access a share of this £130m market.
C2 also provides specialist one-to one advice and Scotland Food & Drink operates a helpline for companies interested in public procurement.
