Consumer interest in animal welfare and provenance formed the background to the development of a collaborative pig supply chain which won a 2010 Scotland Food and Drink Award in the 'Success Through Working in Partnership' category.

VION UK Ltd, one of Europe's leading food companies operating VION Halls, the largest pig abattoir in Scotland

Quality Meat Scotland (QMS), the public body which helps the red meat sector to enhance efficiency and profitability.
The partners built on existing supply chain relationships to reinforce the quality of Scottish pig production and pork products.
The partnership is for the long term and is built around the shared goal of improving sales volumes and values by making sure that the consumer knows about the higher welfare standard of Scottish pork compared to imported products.
