SF&D Excellence Awards Launched

SF&D Excellence Awards Launched

20 January 2011

Following a record number of entries in 2010, the Scotland Food & Drink Excellence Awards 2011 are now open for entries and are set to be the biggest and best yet.

Organisers of the awards, Scotland Food & Drink and The Royal Highland and Agricultural Society of Scotland, are inviting companies to showcase their products and services and perhaps be lucky enough to join the Excellence Awards Hall of Fame and reap the business benefits associated with a win in this prestigious competition.

SAOS and C2 will again sponsor the Success Through Working in Partnership Award.

The Awards, sponsored by, among others, Clydesdale Bank, will form a major milestone in the Scottish Government's Year of Food & Drink and the presentation ceremony will take place at Dunblane Hydro Hotel on Thursday, 26 May 2011. The menu will be designed by Scottish chef, Nick Nairn.

For the first time, winners of the Grampian Food Forum Innovation Awards and the Highlands & Islands Food and Drink Awards will be automatically shortlisted in these national Excellence Awards.

Previous winners have used their award as a business booster. Aisling Thornton, marketing executive at Scotherbs, winner of the best fruit or vegetable product in 2010, said: "We have used the Excellence Awards logo in a variety of marketing literature to show the high quality of our produce. It's resulted in great PR opportunities and has boosted sales due to the increased product awareness."

Food and drink companies can enter by downloading an entry form from the Scotland Food and Drink website and emailing the completed form back to the stated email address. The closing date for entries is 4 March 2011.
