Manage Risk and Improve Your Chain

SAOS has developed a Risk Management Framework (RMF) which can help food and drink processing companies and their partners to improve their supply chain by helping them to create better management controls and practices. Food manufacturing and processing companies are usually the ‘hub' of any chain and are the focus of the RMF process.
The RMF is a three stage programme which helps supply chains to:-
• Identify in detail main risk areas which will have most impact on their performance
• Identify actions to minimise these risks
• Develop protocols so that they can continue to monitor risk
The RMF enables companies in a chain to understand that every activity and connection in the chain has an element of commercial risk - risk which could have a serious effect on the chain.
The RMF allows companies look closely, in a structured way, at those activities and connections and the risks they run - they can then work on protocols which can help them to minimise the risks.
The RMF works by enabling companies to identify their own risks with the help of a facilitator and them to work on risk management activities. This means that, in future, the companies can monitor and manage risks themselves.
As an example of how the RMF process works we've included the risk management assessment of a fictional company, Jolly Ingredients.
