Highland Grain's Industry Commitment

16 February 2011
George Maciver, Chairman of Ross-shire Malting Barley co-operative Highland Grain, has reiterated its support for the Scotch Whisky industy at the recent Glenmorangie/Highland Grain awards.
Mr Maciver said that the company's partnership with Glenmorangie was an excellent example of the group's policy of establishing itself as a preferred supplier in the distilling industry.
He added that he was delighted that the company was making a continuing commitment to the production of malting barley for Glenmorangie and its other customers in future years - despite growing demand for malting barley around the world and a corresponding increase in the number of growers in Europe and the UK dropping out of barley production.
Glenmorangie's Head of Distilling, Dr Bill Lumsden, welcomed the announcement, saying that the growth in demand for Scotch whisky will require this type of commitment and support from the growers.
