Food and Drink Sector Debate

Scotland Food & Drink, has arranged a ‘Celebrating your Contribution to the Industry' event on Friday 17th September at the Scottish Parliament Debating Chamber.
Opened by Richard Lochhead, Cabinet Secretary for the environment and rural affairs, the event will debate the future of the sector and develop ideas which will create global reutation and new routes to market. The event will feature a series of panel discussions and presentations from top industry professionals.
Ed Garner, communications director of Kantar Worldwide will talk about how Scotland can grow its penetration in the rest of the UK. He will pay particular attention to the renewed focus on provenance, and ethical products as the recession panic starts to abate and consumers move away from value ranges. Guy Crawford, CEO of Jumeriah Group, a chain of Middle Eastern luxury hotels, will examine Scotland's reputation as a land of food and drink. As a Global Scot with a highly successful career in the hospitality industry, Guy will consider ways of enhancing the industry's image across the globe.
The Future Foundation, a leading consumer trends think tank, will also share its insight into what the future holds for the Scottish food and drink industry, how consumer buying behaviour will change and how companies can adapt.
Other speakers include Sandy Wilkie, sales and marketing director of Wiseman's, Mark Laing managing director of Nairns, Andy MacLachlan, local sourcing and development manager for the Co-operative and Uel Morton, chief executive of QMS.
