C2 Sponsors Rural Day

23 August 2011

The SAOS C2  project is sponsoring a Rural Enterprise Demonstration Day on Friday 23rd September 2011 at the Crown Estate, Glenlivet Estate Office in Tomintoul in partnership with Scottish Land and Estates.

The Cairngorms National Park is the primary destination for a large percentage of tourists to Scotland. They come for a variety of reasons - the scenery, sports, country sports, peace and quiet and of course food and drink. The food and drink industry is worth £10 billion to the Scottish economy and accounts for a GVA of £59 million in the National Park, and the permutations are endless.

This event which will explore some ideas and hopefully give delegates inspiration for diversification or adding value to businesses. C2 believes that collaboration is the key and the speakers will explore this further.  An afternoon visit to the Glenlivet Speyside bottling plant is optional but will give delegates and depakers the opportunity to network.

Spekers include James Withers, the new Chief Executive of Scotland Food & Drink will open the event and talk about his plans; Jacob Baak of Great Glen Game provides top quality wild venison and will discuss his business and his future plans; Liz Ramsay will look at the revived Savour the Flavours, the organisation that supports Dumfries & Galloway's food and drink industry; Claire Bruce of Glen Tanar will discuss food tourism and venison, and Chris Bremner of the Cairngorms National Park Authority will promote the Park's ideal.
