C2 Williamson Award Winner Named

Nick Nairn, Scotland's top chef and a champion of local produce, congratulated the winners in the 2010 Williamson Foodservice Highlands & Islands Food & Drink Awards at a ceremony and dinner in Inverness on Friday, 29 October 2010.

Among the winners were Wester Ross Fisheries who picked up the C2 sponsored Partnership for Success Award. George Noble, of the C2 project who presented the award, said of the winners:

"The judges were impressed  by the way Wester Ross Fisheries (WRF) worked in partnership with Loch Fyne Oysters to develop their Citrus and Black Pepper Infused Scottish Smoked Salmon product. The two companies worked very closely over a number of months to bring the product to market, with WRF also working with their entire supply chain to ensure excellence in the supply of raw material for the product."

The Citrus and Black Pepper Infused Scottish Smoked Salmon product also came top in the New Product Award category.

The Awards celebrate excellence and achievement within the food and drink industry and are sponsored by Williamson Foodservice, organised by the Highlands & Islands Food & Drink Forum, and supported by Highlands and Islands Enterprise.

Ten Awards recognise categories including best use of local food and drink, healthier food and drink, good environmental practice, innovation, businesses working in collaboration with each other, as well as new products and new businesses and the popular Taste of the Highlands & Islands Restaurant of the Year Award.
