C2 Survey Winners

05 October 2011

The winners of the two prizes on offer for completing the SAOS 2011 Cultivating Collaboration Survey have been announced.

Picked at random from the 259 people who completed the survey, John Whalen of Uin Foods was first out of the hat and wins a night at the Doubletree by Hilton Dunblane Hydro, with dinner and breakfast as part of the package. Said John on hearing the news: "I am delighted to have won, and to be part of the ongoing C2 project."

The second prize of £50 of Amazon vouchers went to Colin Mair of Ayrshire Country Lamb. He said: "It is great to win and just shows that it's always worthwhile taking part in this type of survey."

The Cultivating Collaboration (C2) project began in October 2008 and is funded by the Scottish Government and SAOS and delivered as a strategic activity of Scotland Food & Drink.

It aims to stimulate, encourage and support greater collaboration within Scottish food and drink supply chains, to improve profitability, market responsiveness, efficiency and sustainability.

The survey followed up on an initial one carried out in 2008 to find out the level and type of collaboration in the sector.

The earlier survey findings indicated that nearly all respondents thought they should collaborate closely with others in their supply chain, but only a small minority were doing so successfully. As a result, developing supply chain collaboration became a priority in the industry strategy established by Scotland Food & Drink and its key stakeholders, and led to the launch of the C2 Cultivating Collaboration project.

The 2011 survey aimed to find out if experiences and practices are changing as a result of the work carried out over the last three years. Details of the 2011 findings will be released in due course.

David Walker, Director of Sales at the Doubletree by Hilton Dunblane Hydro, which sponsored the first prize, said "We were delighted to be asked by SAOS to sponsor the survey. We work closely with Scotland Food & Drink and its partner organisations and are keen to promote greater collaboration within the Scottish food and drink industry. We're passionate about promoting quality Scottish produce and collaborate with Nick Nairn in our Kailyard restaurant to do just that"
