Argyll Producers on Film

Argyll Producers on Film

29 May 2009

The award-winning Argyll food producers reprised their act at the Spirit of the West Festival at Inverary recently.  The group were providing a wide range of foods to festival-goers and were caught on film for the C2 website. Fergus Younger from the Argyll and Bute Agricultural Forum and Katie Ritchie of Barbreck Farms were interviewed for the video about the benefits of collaboration.

The Food from Argyll initiative also won the Success through Working in Partnerships Award at the Scotland of Food and Drink Excellence Awards.

As a group of 10 primary and secondary producers, the Argyll food producers attended six large festivals in 2008 under a Food from Argyll-branded marquee. These included T in the Park, Connect, Belladrum and the V-festival in Staffordshire.

The judges commented that the Argyll food producers had won the Excellence Award as their collaboration throughout 2008 had highlighted the benefits of partnership working.

Producers had managed to enter a new market through joint working, increasing sales for all participants and creating overall efficiency and savings. The group was also commended for its use of feasibility reviews and developing a more formal structure.
