  SAOS

  SAOS is a development organisation owned by its membership. SAOS provides information, advice and specialist consultancy services to farmers and food chain companies and to rural businesses and communities that decide to work co-operatively, or in joint venture, to achieve their aims and objectives. SAOS also provides consultancy services to, and in conjunction with, a range of other businesses, industry organisations and Government agencies, in projects and initiatives where their interests are complementary.

  Scottish Government

  The devolved Government for Scotland is responsible for most of the issues of day-to-day concern to the people of Scotland, including health, education, justice, rural affairs, and transport. It manages an annual budget of more than £30 billion in 2007-2008.

  The Scottish Government is led by a First Minister who is nominated by the Parliament and in turn appoints the other Scottish Ministers who make up the Cabinet. Civil servants in Scotland are accountable to Scottish Ministers, who are themselves accountable to the Scottish Parliament.

  The project  receives support from the Scottish Rural Development Programme's Food Processing, Marketing and Co-operation Grant Scheme.
